WHAT'S GOING ON (At the beginning of July)

Happy Independence Day!  Revolution!  What's more punk than that?
We're a month into New Wave Summer.  Lots of trouble.  Lots of bubble. -- to quote Rock Lobster by the B-52's.  We did a whole round of quotes from New Wave Songs for the Shadowland Pub Quiz a week ago.  It was definitely a crowd favorite.

Over eleven hundred hours were spent listening to KJRW in June.  Most of that was inside the U.S.A. Other countries tuning in were:  Canada, France, Mexico, Germany, Spain, Brazil, the U.K., Netherlands, Morocco and Italy.  Washington, Wisconsin, California, Michigan, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Florida, Georgia and New York were the states that spent the most time with KJRW.

Almost 200 more songs were added during the month of June.  If there is a song you would like to hear on the station, email us at kjrwwestseattle@yahoo.com.

WHAT'S GOING ON (at the beginning of 2016)

Happy New Year!  We've got good news and bad news.  The bad news is that our home online for the past 5 years may be shutting its doors at the end of this month.  Yes, that's right, KJRW may be homeless very soon.  We are looking for a new place to dwell.  If you have any suggestions on which streaming service we should be on, please let us know.

The good news is that 2015 was a very good year for KJRW.  The station page was visited over twenty thousand times.  More streams were launched than ever, and people spent the most time listening to KJRW since the station was created.

KJRW would like to thank the people in the great states of Washington, Texas, Kentucky, California, Ohio, Minnesota, Michigan, New York, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Jersey, Idaho, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Missouri, Oregon, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Arizona, West Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi and Indiana for listening.  And we don't forget the "other" Washington in the District of Columbia.

Your current favorite songs on KJRW are:

  1. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
  2. Love Song - 311
  3. Date Rape - Sublime

NEW WAVE SUMMER IS A HIT! Listening time has increased since New Wave Summer began on KJRW on June 22nd.  The average length of each stream launched in June was the highest since February.  More people visited the station page during the month of June than in any given month in the past couple years. People listened the most in the U.S., Belarus, Canada, Spain, France, Brazil, New Zealand, Switzerland, the U.K., and Peru. Listening in the U.S. was tops in our home of Seattle, Washington (as usual). Texas came in second due to 3 cities spending time with KJRW: San Antonio, Dallas and El Paso.  Other hot spots were Tampa, Florida; Chicago, Illinois; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Albany, New York; Detroit, Michigan; and San Francisco, California.

Hello and welcome to 2015!  KJRW's 5th year online is underway.  Most of 2014 was good for the station.  The play button was clicked about a thousand times a month.  We were riding especially high in April, when KJRW held its highest rank ever among all the stations on Live365.com.  We got Under the Covers, listened to love songs, had a New Wave Summer, went back to College in the fall and had a Punk Rock Christmas.  We'll do it all again in 2015, from Punk to Grunge and beyond!

People spent the most time listening to KJRW in the U.S., Switzerland, Spain, Canada, New Zealand, Mexico, Italy, Russia, Peru and the Czech Republic in the month of December.  Inside the U.S., listeners were found in our home base of Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL; Louisville,KY; Philadelphia, PA; New York, NY; Kansas City, MO; Los Angeles, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Cincinnati, OH and Dallas, TX.

WHAT'S GOING ON (at the beginning of KJRW's 5th year)

KJRW begins its fifth year online by once again turning our focus to the Sound.  Puget Sound, that is.  Clouds.  Logging.  Flannel.  We continue our musical journey following Alternative Rock into the 90's, when it exploded into the mainstream.  Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam are just the tip of the volcanic mountain.

A quick look back at November shows that KJRW's rank among the rock stations on Live365 went up a couple notches.  The average time people spent listening to KJRW in November was higher than in October.  People listened the most in the U.S., Canada, France, Spain, Mexico, New Zealand, Finland, Sweden, Germany and the U.K.  Inside the U.S., listening was tops in Illinois, New York, Georgia, California, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Virginia, Michigan and Florida.

Your favorite songs the last week of November were:

  1. Rise Above - Black Flag
  2. Corona - Minutemen
  3. Bonzo Goes To Bitburg - Ramones
  4. Lies - Greenhornes
  5. Good Thing - Fine Young Cannibals
  6. Waiting Room - Fugazi
  7. What You Need - INXS
  8. Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus
  9. Rat Race - Brody Dalle
  10. Supermassive Black Hole - Muse

WHEN OCTOBER GOES

KJRW's rank rose considerably during the month of October.  We're now in the top 6% of the hundreds of rock stations on Live365.  More streams were launched in October than in September and August.

Listeners spent the most time with KJRW since March.  Those with VIP subscriptions listened double the amount of that in September.  People listened for free the longest time in almost a year.

Where they were listening the most:  U.S., Spain, Germany, Canada, France, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Denmark and U.K.  Inside the U.S.:  Seattle, WA; Montgomery, AL; New York, NY; San Diego and Los Angeles, CA; Austin, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Pittsburgh, PA; Denver, CO and Washington, DC.

The bad news is that KJRW's subscription with Live365.com runs out at the end of November.  But, you can help keep us online another year with a donation at gofundme.com/KJRW-WestSeattle.

Thursday, September 5

AN AUGUST THEME

KJRW's rank among all the stations on Live365 climbed almost 200 places in August.  There were over 2400 visits to the station page.  The average stretch of time people listened to KJRW was the highest this year.  Live365 VIP members listened the most since March.  The only thing we did not see an increase in was the number of streams launched.  The problem with that could possibly be that only so many people can listen for free at a time.  Sometimes the station is "full".  The way around that is to become a Live365 VIP.  You will be able to listen commercial-free whenever you want.  Part of the subscription price will pay artist royalties, and part will go to KJRW to help keep us online.  Click VIP.

During the month of August, people were listening to KJRW the most in the U.S., Canada, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Sweden, Australia, Peru and the U.K.  Inside the U.S., people listened the most in Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; Montgomery, AL; Raleigh-Durham, NC; Wausau-Rhinelander, WI; Baltimore, MD; Phoenix, AZ and Jacksonville, FL.

NO CHRISTMAS IN JULY

There were over 2 thousand visits to the station page last month.  People pressed the play button on KJRW over eleven hundred times in July.  The most streams were launched in a few months.  So, our rank among all the rock stations on Live365 went up a couple notches.  The time VIP listeners spent with KJRW and the amount of people that made us a preset station was double that of June.   However, the average time spent listening to the station was the lowest ever, so our overall rank went down.

People spent the most time listening in the U.S., Mexico, Spain, Italy, Australia, Greece, U.K., Canada, Slovak Republic and Chile.

Our home base of Washington State was again tops in listening, as well as:  California, Georgia, New York, Texas, North Carolina, Missouri, Alabama, Arizona and Connecticut.

Do us a favor?  When you check out the KJRW station page on Live365.com, hit the play button and give us a listen.

FEBRUARY STARS

KJRW was reaching for the stars in February.  Our stats grew in almost every category.  We had the most page visits ever.  Over a thousand streams were launched.  On Presidents Day, someone signed up for a VIP subscription just to listen to KJRW.  We enjoyed love songs the week of Valentine's Day (or as we like to call it, Blackheart Day).  Our rank among the thousands of stations on Live365 inched higher.  The only sour note was that the average number of minutes each stream played dropped a little.  But, that has been on the rise in the first few days of March.

People were listening to KJRW the most in...
U.S. ~ Canada ~ Spain ~ U.K. ~ Argentina ~ Columbia ~ Sweden ~ Mexico ~ Bolivia ~ Netherlands

... and inside the U.S....
Seattle, WA ~ Detroit, MI ~ New York, NY ~ Montgomery, AL ~ Salt Lake City, UT ~ Nashville, TN ~ Portland, OR ~ Chicago, IL ~ Raleigh-Durham, NC ~ San Francisco, CA

V.I.P.

The other day in New York, a man was trying to listen to KJRW on Live365.com.  Each time he clicked the play button, he was greeted with the message that the station was full.  You see, there can only be so many people listening to a station on Live365 for free at one time.

But when you are a Live365 VIP, you can access the station anytime.  So that music lover in New York did just that.  He signed up to be a VIP from the KJRW station page.  Now he can listen commercial-free for a year.  And KJRW received part of the subscription fee, which will help us stay online.  Another portion of that subscription fee will go to the artists that get played on the station.

VIP's may also download a Live365 desktop player that allows you to listen without opening your web browser.  Packages start at about 6 dollars a month.  If you are interested, click here:  http://www.live365.com/rewards/pm?tag=member_10222739915.
