WHAT'S GOING ON (at the beginning of KJRW's 5th year)

KJRW begins its fifth year online by once again turning our focus to the Sound.  Puget Sound, that is.  Clouds.  Logging.  Flannel.  We continue our musical journey following Alternative Rock into the 90's, when it exploded into the mainstream.  Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam are just the tip of the volcanic mountain.

A quick look back at November shows that KJRW's rank among the rock stations on Live365 went up a couple notches.  The average time people spent listening to KJRW in November was higher than in October.  People listened the most in the U.S., Canada, France, Spain, Mexico, New Zealand, Finland, Sweden, Germany and the U.K.  Inside the U.S., listening was tops in Illinois, New York, Georgia, California, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Virginia, Michigan and Florida.

Your favorite songs the last week of November were:

  1. Rise Above - Black Flag
  2. Corona - Minutemen
  3. Bonzo Goes To Bitburg - Ramones
  4. Lies - Greenhornes
  5. Good Thing - Fine Young Cannibals
  6. Waiting Room - Fugazi
  7. What You Need - INXS
  8. Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus
  9. Rat Race - Brody Dalle
  10. Supermassive Black Hole - Muse

WHAT'S GOING ON (in the middle of November)

The good news is that we have raised enough money to renew our contract with Live365 next month!  KJRW will stay online another year, and will have more room to store more songs and more people will be able to listen at a time without having to pay a subscription fee.  More!  More!  More!

Our rank among the rock stations on Live365 is holding steady.  We're just shy of being made a favorite 600 times. KJRW picked up a few more twitter followers this past week.  If you would like more frequent updates about the station, follow us on twitter or like the facebook page.

Your current favorite songs on KJRW are:

  1. The Busdrivers - Josh's Shirt
  2. Supermassive Black Hole - Muse
  3. Good Thing - Fine Young Cannibals
  4. You Sound Like You're Sick - Ramones
  5. People Who Died - Jim Carroll Band
  6. Kundalini Express - Love and Rockets
  7. Goo Goo Muck - Cramps
  8. Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus
  9. Wave of Mutilation - Pixies
  10. The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead - XTC
We continue our musical journey through 80's College Rock the rest of this month to 90's Alternative in December.  Thanks for coming along for the ride.

WHAT'S GOING ON (a week into November)

There's just a few weeks left of our contract with Live365, and we have raised enough money for a "bronze" renewal.  That is the minimum amount to keep KJRW online.  If we raise just $70 more, we will qualify for a "silver" contract.  What would that mean to you?  More listeners could tune in for free, and we could expand our library to play even more songs.

We did get off to a slow start on our fundraising because our campaign page on Go Fund Me was telling people they could not make donations.  That problem was fixed by making a brand new page:  http://www.gofundme.com/renewKJRW.
We're off to a good start in November.  The average time people spend listening to KJRW is double what it was in October.  Consequently, our rank has clicked up a few notches.  It is still Fall, so we are still rocking College style.  Our College Rock T-shirts will only be available in the KJRW Corner Store for a few more weeks.

Your favorite songs the first week of November were:

  1. Supermassive Black Hole - Muse
  2. The Busdrivers - Josh's Shirt
  3. Good Thing - Fine Young Cannibals
  4. Season of the Witch - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
  5. You Sound Like You're Sick - Ramones
  6. Kundalini Express - Love and Rockets
  7. People Who Died - Jim Carroll Band
  8. Feel the Pain - Dinosaur Jr.
  9. Goo Goo Muck - Cramps
  10. Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus
