JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIES

In honor of the Oscars (didn't they used to call it the Academy Awards?), Forbes recently made a list of Ten Great Movie Soundtracks:

  1. Judgment Night (full of strange collaborations like Helmet + House of Pain)
  2. Spawn (more strange collaborations)
  3. Singles (we love that Seattle sound)
  4. SLC Punk (sounds a lot like KJRW)
  5. Saturday Night Fever (made Disco mainstream)
  6. Pretty in Pink (the best New Wave)
  7. Dazed and Confused (great Classic Rock)
  8. Purple Rain (Prince's masterpiece)
  9. High Fidelity (obscure good stuff)
  10. Trainspotting (two soundtracks of Alternative Rock)
Honorable mentions went to:  Grosse Point Blank, American Graffiti, A Hard Day's Night, Lost Highway, Pulp Fiction, Romeo + Juliet, Kids, The Virgin Suicides, 8 Mile, Quadrophenia, The Crow and Batman Forever.

We think these should be on the list:  Tank Girl, Pump Up the Volume, Apollo 13, Light of Day and The Big Chill.

Any more great movie soundtracks we missed?

V.I.P.

The other day in New York, a man was trying to listen to KJRW on Live365.com.  Each time he clicked the play button, he was greeted with the message that the station was full.  You see, there can only be so many people listening to a station on Live365 for free at one time.

But when you are a Live365 VIP, you can access the station anytime.  So that music lover in New York did just that.  He signed up to be a VIP from the KJRW station page.  Now he can listen commercial-free for a year.  And KJRW received part of the subscription fee, which will help us stay online.  Another portion of that subscription fee will go to the artists that get played on the station.

VIP's may also download a Live365 desktop player that allows you to listen without opening your web browser.  Packages start at about 6 dollars a month.  If you are interested, click here:  http://www.live365.com/rewards/pm?tag=member_10222739915.

JANUARY HYMN

KJRW has started to climb out of that hole that was December.  Fewer folks are visiting the station page on Live365.com and pressing that play button.  However, those that do are listening longer, so our rank is slowly creeping back up.  We did hit the milestone of 19 thousand page visits in January.  People were listening in these countries:
  • United States
  • Canada
  • Slovenia
  • Italy
  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Mexico
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Slovak Republic
and inside the U.S.:
  • Seattle, WA
  • Montgomery, AL
  • San Francisco, CA
  • Chicago and Springfield, IL
  • Detroit, MI
  • New York, NY
  • Cleveland, OH
  • Dallas, TX
