GOODBYE TO YOU

About 8 years ago, we began building the music library and named our station KJRW.  Today, Radionomy silenced it.  We came very close to their listening requirements.  (Personally, we believe Radionomy did not record all of the time people spent with the station.  For example, our stats from Facebook show that over 2 thousand clicked a link from there during a period that Radionomy only shows about 1200 total did.)  More people have been listening to KJRW in the past month than ever.

KJRW has been heard in almost every continent on the globe over the past (almost) 8 years.  Thank you for listening in the U.S., Germany, Canada, France, Spain, Poland, Netherlands, U.K., Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Ireland, Austria, U.A.E., Australia, China, Norway, Hungary, Israel, Ecuador, Peru, Belgium, Sweden, Hong Kong, Guatemala, Mexico, Czech Republic, Thailand, Portugal, Vietnam, Cuba, Myanmar, Uruguay, Morocco, Singapore, Malaysia, French Polynesia, Kazakhstan, Costa Rica, Bulgaria, Estonia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Belarus, and Latvia.

Thanks for spending time with KJRW in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, and Massachusetts.  A special shout out to David for sharing posts on Facebook, and for single-handedly making Wisconsin second in listening in the U.S.

We also thank all the voices of KJRW:  The Spinster, Matt, Anne, Blue, Nate, Love, Kevin, Madison, Travis, and Anna. Thanks to the indie bands and fans for sending us songs.  Thanks to Angie, Barry, Mike, Kelly, Luis, Rikki, Selene, and Elizabeth for your music and station i.d.'s. Thanks to Allyssa for drawing our mascot.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

WHAT'S GOING ON (At the beginning of July)

Happy Independence Day!  Revolution!  What's more punk than that?
We're a month into New Wave Summer.  Lots of trouble.  Lots of bubble. -- to quote Rock Lobster by the B-52's.  We did a whole round of quotes from New Wave Songs for the Shadowland Pub Quiz a week ago.  It was definitely a crowd favorite.

Over eleven hundred hours were spent listening to KJRW in June.  Most of that was inside the U.S.A. Other countries tuning in were:  Canada, France, Mexico, Germany, Spain, Brazil, the U.K., Netherlands, Morocco and Italy.  Washington, Wisconsin, California, Michigan, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Florida, Georgia and New York were the states that spent the most time with KJRW.

Almost 200 more songs were added during the month of June.  If there is a song you would like to hear on the station, email us at kjrwwestseattle@yahoo.com.

WHAT'S GOING ON (at the beginning of 2016)

Happy New Year!  We've got good news and bad news.  The bad news is that our home online for the past 5 years may be shutting its doors at the end of this month.  Yes, that's right, KJRW may be homeless very soon.  We are looking for a new place to dwell.  If you have any suggestions on which streaming service we should be on, please let us know.

The good news is that 2015 was a very good year for KJRW.  The station page was visited over twenty thousand times.  More streams were launched than ever, and people spent the most time listening to KJRW since the station was created.

December saw the most page visits in 2 1/2 years, and the most time spent listening since last Spring.  People were listening in:  the U.S., Czech Republic, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Switzerland, France, Columbia, Italy, Australia, Spain, the Republic of Korea, Finland, Russia, Japan, Germany, Belarus, Argentina, the U.K., the Philippines, Serbia, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Belgium.

KJRW would like to thank the people in the great states of Washington, Texas, Kentucky, California, Ohio, Minnesota, Michigan, New York, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Jersey, Idaho, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Missouri, Oregon, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Arizona, West Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi and Indiana for listening.  And we don't forget the "other" Washington in the District of Columbia.

Your current favorite songs on KJRW are:

  1. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
  2. Love Song - 311
  3. Date Rape - Sublime
  4. Ruby Soho - Rancid
  5. When I Come Around - Honeyblood
  6. You Are My Sunshine - Screeching Weasel
  7. Sweet Jane - Cowboy Junkies
  8. Ghost Town - Specials
  9. Clampdown - Clash
  10. All I Want - Offspring

Get Under the Covers with KJRW on Live365 the rest of this month!

WHAT'S GOING ON (at the beginning of May)

KJRW celebrated the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in April. More streams were launched than in March and February. There were the most visits to the station page since last June.
However, people spent slightly less time listening, so our rank dropped a bit. They were listening to KJRW the most in the U.S., Belarus, Spain, Canada, Hungary, New Zealand, Italy, Venezuela, Slovak Republic and Germany. Tops in listening inside the U.S. were:  Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; Philadelphia, PA; Denver, CO; New York and Albany, NY; El Paso, TX; Chicago, IL; Grand Rapids, MI and Atlanta, GA.

New Wave Summer is right around the corner.  Listen to KJRW now: KJRW-West Seattle-Alternative & Punk Rock.

MARCH INTO THE SEA

We made it through another April Fool's Day.  There were actually some cool 60's songs.  And more people tuned in than on any previous April 1st.  We may try to go a whole month without a DJ and see how that sounds.

Now as for March, our rank slipped a little bit due to people listening for free a little less.  VIP's were pressing the play button a bunch more, though.  Over 11 hundred streams were launched during last month.  There were a couple hundred more visits to the station page on Live365.com than in February.  KJRW was made a preset station the most times in March than in the past year.

People spent the largest amount of time listening in the U.S., Canada, China, Spain, Australia, U.K., Thailand, Colombia, Sweden and France.  Inside the U.S., Washington, Illinois, California, Alabama, Texas, Ohio, Arkansas, Colorado, North Carolina and Georgia were tops in listening.

I DON'T HATE MYSELF FOR LOVING YOU

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts played a sold-out show at Snoqualmie Casino in Washington Sunday night.  It was their second show in the ballroom in a little less than a year.  Breaking with tradition, the set began not with Bad Reputation, but TMI from the new album, Unvarnished.  Almost half of the songs during the concert came from the new album (Soulmates To Strangers, Make It Back, Fragile, Hard To Grow Up, Any Weather and Reality Mentality).  The Runaways classic, Cherry Bomb remained in its usual second slot.

It was at about this time that I reached up to get a high five from bassist Acey Slade.  He instead shook my hand and left his guitar pick in my palm.  They then launched into Gary Glitter's Do You Wanna Touch Me and Bad Reputation.  The Blackhearts really hit their stride midway through the set with the first song Joan Jett ever wrote, You Drive Me Wild.  This was the highlight of the show for me because she came over and played part of it right above me.

The show ended with the trifecta of tunes that most people go to hear:  I Love Rock 'N' Roll, Crimson and Clover and I Hate Myself For Loving You.  The encore included The Sweet's AC/DC and Sly and the Family Stone's Everyday People.

XMAS IN FEBRUARY

Was it the love songs?  KJRW saw its biggest jump in listening and rank ever during the month of February!  There were over 11 hundred streams launched during the short month.  We were made a preset station a dozen more times.  People spent the most time listening to KJRW in the U.S., Canada, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Greece, Hungary, Denmark, Italy and Finland.  Inside the U.S., Washington, Alabama, Ohio, Arizona, California, Texas, Colorado, Arkansas, Minnesota and Tennessee were tops in listening.  Thanks for showing KJRW the love in February!

DECEMBER YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN A PROBLEM CHILD

During December, listening was highest in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, France, Mexico, U.K., Denmark, Spain, Philippines and Hungary.  Inside the U.S., people listened the most in Alabama, Washington, California, Texas, Colorado, Nevada, Virginia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Arkansas.

There were more visits to the KJRW page on Live365.com in December than in the previous month.  The average amount of time people spent listening was up a tiny bit also.  However, the number of streams launched was the lowest of the entire fall season.

Please make sure your version of flash player is up to date so you can listen to KJRW.  We had one listener tell us that she could see all the great songs that were playing on the station, and was frustrated to not be able to hear them because her software was not upgraded on her computer.

We started December playing back the Top 113 of 2013.  It was the first month of our fourth year online.  Onward and upward, we say!

January is Dive Under the Covers month on KJRW.  Please push 'play'.

NO CHRISTMAS IN JULY

There were over 2 thousand visits to the station page last month.  People pressed the play button on KJRW over eleven hundred times in July.  The most streams were launched in a few months.  So, our rank among all the rock stations on Live365 went up a couple notches.  The time VIP listeners spent with KJRW and the amount of people that made us a preset station was double that of June.   However, the average time spent listening to the station was the lowest ever, so our overall rank went down.

People spent the most time listening in the U.S., Mexico, Spain, Italy, Australia, Greece, U.K., Canada, Slovak Republic and Chile.

Our home base of Washington State was again tops in listening, as well as:  California, Georgia, New York, Texas, North Carolina, Missouri, Alabama, Arizona and Connecticut.

Do us a favor?  When you check out the KJRW station page on Live365.com, hit the play button and give us a listen.

JUNE ON THE WEST COAST

KJRW celebrated Women Who Rock during the month of June, to coincide with the opening of the Women Who Rock exhibit at the EMP Museum in Seattle Center.  We thought it sounded great, but not many people heard it.  The least number of streams were launched of the past year.  The average amount of time listeners spent with KJRW increased a tiny bit since the last couple months, but our rank has slipped.

People were listening in the U.S., Spain, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Sweden, Uruguay, Slovenia, and Chile the most.

Inside the U.S., people listened to KJRW regularly in Washington, California, Alabama, North Carolina, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Arizona, New Jersey and Nebraska.

Enjoy Independence Day in the U.S., and New Wave Summer on KJRW!

IDES OF MARCH

We know we are well into April, but will still take a look back at March.  The bad news was that KJRW was made a preset station the least number of times ever in a month.  However, the rest of the news is all good.  More streams were launched in March than February.  People spent more time listening to KJRW.  Our rank rose among not only the rock stations, but all the stations on Live365.  KJRW had the most visits to the station page since it was created in 2010 (well over 2 thousand in one month)!

Here is where people listened to KJRW in March:

Italy + Canada + Spain + Australia + Slovenia + Sweden + Germany + Slovak Republic + Argentina + United States (Washington + California + Alabama + Illinois + North Carolina + New Jersey + Michigan + Ohio + Nevada + Texas)

A LONG DECEMBER

On December 2nd, KJRW reached its highest rank ever among the thousands of stations on Live365.com.  It was all downhill from there.  We went off the listening cliff.  Time spent listening in December was half of what it was in November.  But, November was huge.  It was the best month KJRW enjoyed in the two years it has been online.  However, December did top November in the number of times the station page was visited and how many people made KJRW a preset station (that is like when you assign a button on your car radio to a certain station).

Here are the countries that are still listening to KJRW:
  • U.S.
  • Canada
  • S. Africa
  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Slovenia
  • Mexico
  • Slovak Republic

Tops in listening inside the U.S. are:
  • California
  • Washington
  • Illinois
  • Alabama
  • Ohio
  • New York
  • Pennsylvania
  • Michigan
  • North Carolina
  • Colorado
KJRW has just begun its third year on Live365.com and hopes for more months like November, when people spent over twelve hundred hours listening to the station.  Songs are being added to the mix every week.  Your suggestions are always appreciated at kjrw@comcast.net.  If you like what you hear on KJRW, please spread the word.  Have a great 2013!

OCTOBER SKY IS THE LIMIT

Hello and welcome to November.  Hope you had a great pumpkin Halloween and enjoyed all the spooky tunes on KJRW.  We wish listeners on the east coast a speedy recovery from Superstorm Sandy.

October was a pretty good month for KJRW.  During the second half, our numbers climbed to new heights.  People spent the most time listening since the station was created.  The largest number of streams were launched.  We ended the month with the highest rank KJRW has ever had among all the thousands of stations on Live365.

Thanks for listening in:

WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS

Well, I suppose there was nowhere to go but up after August.  KJRW's rank did go back up to what it was in July.  More streams were launched in September than in August and July.  That's the good news.  The bad news is that there were the least number of visits to the station page in the past year.  So, please tell a friend to drop by:  http://www.live365.com/stations/member_10222739915?play=1.
