When the first wave of Punk Rock receded, Post-Punk and New Wave music rose in its wake. New Wave was one of the definitive music genres of the 1980's, gaining popularity through videos aired on MTV. In turn, New Wave led to the development of College Rock and Grunge of the late 1980's/early 1990's. You could say that New Wave is the bridge from Punk to Grunge. We cross that bridge on KJRW.
