NEW WAVE SUMMER

In the late 1970's, Paul Weller of The Jam was on the T.V. show, Tomorrow.  He told host Tom Snyder that what his band played was called New Wave, and that Punk Rock was a term made up by the media.  I believe that New Wave was a lighter, synthesizer-infused type of music that evolved from gritty Punk Rock.

Now that I think about it, the last time I listened to and enjoyed Top 40 or Contemporary Hit Radio, it was filled with New Wave music.  Blondie, The Cars, The Police, The Pretenders, Duran Duran and Eurythmics dominated the airwaves.

KJRW starts sprinkling in New Wave songs on the first day of summer.  So tie a knot in your skinny tie and get ready to ride the wave!  New Wave Summer begins Wednesday on KJRW.

P.S.  You can find that Paul Weller interview on the Tomorrow show on You Tube.  (I enjoyed the part with the cute brunette from The Runaways.)
