WHAT'S GOING ON (In the Middle of August)

Over 1500 people listened to KJRW the first half of August.  Most of that was during the first week.  Just 3 weeks left of the LAST New Wave Summer ever.  Catch it while you can.

All Request Fall begins after Labor Day Weekend.  There are several ways you can request a song  during the month of September:  email kjrwwestseattle@yahoo.com, tweet it to @KJRWwestseattle, comment on this blog post, or send a message on our Facebook page.

WHAT'S GOING ON (at the beginning of September)

Monday night's Shadowland Pub Quiz was rockin' and raucous. Rico walked away with the fan-made KJRW T-shirt for correctly guessing the lyrics: "You said irony was the shackles of youth" belonged to a song by R.E.M. (What's the Frequency, Kenneth?). We thank Scott M.X. for letting us invade his quiz show the last Monday of every month.  Scott hosts the Shadowland Pub Quiz in West Seattle Monday nights at 8.

The station's rank climbed a few notches in August. We hit the milestone of 70 thousand visits to the KJRW station page at Live365.com.  There were almost 2 thousand visits in August alone. VIPs spent more time with us in August than in the previous 3 months.  KJRW was made a favorite station the most times since January.  The Facebook page got a bunch more likes.  And we gathered another batch of followers on Twitter.

People were listening the most in the U.S., Canada, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Belarus, Mexico, Italy, Japan and Belgium.

AN AUGUST THEME

KJRW's rank among all the stations on Live365 climbed almost 200 places in August.  There were over 2400 visits to the station page.  The average stretch of time people listened to KJRW was the highest this year.  Live365 VIP members listened the most since March.  The only thing we did not see an increase in was the number of streams launched.  The problem with that could possibly be that only so many people can listen for free at a time.  Sometimes the station is "full".  The way around that is to become a Live365 VIP.  You will be able to listen commercial-free whenever you want.  Part of the subscription price will pay artist royalties, and part will go to KJRW to help keep us online.  Click VIP.

During the month of August, people were listening to KJRW the most in the U.S., Canada, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Sweden, Australia, Peru and the U.K.  Inside the U.S., people listened the most in Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; Montgomery, AL; Raleigh-Durham, NC; Wausau-Rhinelander, WI; Baltimore, MD; Phoenix, AZ and Jacksonville, FL.

COLD WIND IN AUGUST

KJRW did set some records in August, but nothing to brag about.  People spent the least time listening to the station since it launched at the end of 2010.  The play button was pressed the fewest amount of times.  Some still listened to KJRW in:
  • U.S.
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Canada
  • Germany
  • Mexico
  • South Africa
  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Portugal
Inside the U.S., these places were tops in listening:
  • Seattle, WA
  • Raleigh-Durham, NC
  • San Antonio, TX
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Manchester, NH
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • Cleveland, OH
  • Detroit, MI
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Norfolk, VA
Maybe KJRW fans were on vacation.  It seems as if the audience has been coming back over the past week.  Let's hope it's better in September.  New Wave Summer ends soon.  Preparations have begun for the Top 112 of 2012 countdown.
